The Collection of Letters of Civil War Soldiers papers is housed in three archival boxes. These papers include photocopies of various letters, diaries, memoirs, and service records of Pennsylvania Civil War soldiers and infantrymen from Ohio. The bulk of the collection was written during the Civil War, although some of the correspondence begins before this time and continued after the Civil War was over. Most copies have been made from the National Archives in Washington D.C.
