Let us first thank you for stopping by.
The Path of Progress is a 500+ mile
National Heritage Tour Route
which meanders through nine (9) counties in
Southwestern PA, a cradle of the Industrial Revolution in America. It's a place
where iron and steel, coal, and transportation centers existed to lead ouyr
great nation to its industrial might!

The Path of Progress is facilitated by the
Southwestern Pennsylvania Heritage Preservation Commission
(SPHPC) and the
Allegheny Heritage Development Corporation, Inc (AHDC).
These two organizations work with many partners to preserve the heritage
of Southwestern PA, improve the quality of life for area residents, and make this
a great place to visit and learn about a small piece of U.S. history.

Allegheny Traveler
is the fictional historical character whom you will see throughout thisregion.
He is your storytelling guide along the path. Follow him on your journey along
the Path of Progress.
We invite you to sit back and learn a little bit about the Path of Progress
and perhaps we can pique your curiosity enough to visit some of the attractions our
area has to offer.

The Allegheny Traveler announces The 1997 Path of Progress
