Procedings of the Pittsburgh Chapter of the Coal Mining Institute of America

The Pittsburgh Chapter of the Coal Mining Institute of America was organized in 1884 by the Coal Operators of Western Pennsylvania. The purpose of the Institute was to improve the status of the coal mining industry. The Institute was largely interested in new mining technology and in developing new uses for coal.

This collection is divided into four series: Secretary-Treasurer Files, CMIA Proceedings (1911-69 inclusive, 1979-80), Membership Records, and Miscellaneous Files.
