United Mine Workers of America - District #3 Papers

District #3 of the UMWA had jurisdiction over the southwestern Pennsylvania coal field region, otherwise known as the Greensburg Field. The district included parts of Westmoreland, Greene, Fayette, and Washington counties and, although it operated for a time independently, District #3 eventually merged with District #5.

The collection is divided into six series: President's Files, Working Correspondence and Reference Files, Contract Agreements, Financial Records, Workmen's Compensation Case Files, UMWA Welfare and Retirement Information. The material dates from 1933 to 1974.
