Elizabeth Bain Collection

Elizabeth Bain, prominent television, was born October 8, 1913 in Dubuque, Iowa. Bain graduated Summa Cum Laude from Clark College in 1935, receiving a B.A. in education. She taught in Dubuque from 1935 to 1941.

Bain became involved in the media industry by working as the msuic librarian for KFI-KECA in Los Angeles in 1941. Bain left Los Angeles for Chicago in 1942 and workes as WCFL's Traffic Director, and later as Film Director at WBBM-TV. Bain left Chicago for New York City in 1958 to become the Film Programming Director for the Metropolitan BRaodcasting Corporation. She also served as Assistant Director of Program Services for CBS-TV and President of Ware and Bain, Inc. in 1962.

Bain was involved in several organizations concerned with radio and television, including American Women in Radio and Television, the Radio-TV Excutive's Society, and the TV Academy of Arts.

The collection includes speeches and articles written by Elizabeth Bain, AWRT reports and convention proceedings, TV show ratings and movie reviews, and miscellaneous other articles, dating from 1959-1988.
