George B. Johnson Collection

Mr. George Bowden Johnson, was a canal historian and principal organizer of efforts to preserve and restore the canal and related sites in and around Saltsburg. From 1966-1995, Johnson was a Professor in the Art Deptartment of I.U.P. His activities and membership include: Chair of Historic Saltsburg, and Board of Directors, PA Canal Society. Mr. Johnson published numerous articles in the Saltsburg Press, Canal Currents and Indiana County Heritage. This collection is arranged into 4 series:
