Welfare Rights Organization

The Welfare Rights Organization of Indiana County provides information to welfare recipients about their benefits and rights. The Welfare Rights Organization publicizes changes in regulations of the Department of Public Assistance. Help applicants with problems, such as filing papers with the local office and requesting revisions in the program. The Welfare Rights Organization also conducts research to find the best alternatives for low-income families and submits their findings to organizations who have the power to make changes. The W.R.O. also helps to organize the people uniting them in legal battles. The contents of this collection are research materials regarding housing and health care in Indiana County.
