PACT Fall 2011 Submission Guidelines

All submissions must be received by April 1, 2011. Candidates will be notified by April 29, 2011.

Poster Sessions/Exhibits

Presentation time: 30 minutes
Submission proposal length: 1 to 3 pages (625 - 1875 words)
AV equipment provided: 6' table, 2 chairs, wireless Internet access

Poster sessions enable presenters to discuss projects/programs in progress in order to gain feedback and to establish contact with similar projects. Exhibits can showcase art, food, science projects, etc. Poster session and exhibit proposals must include:

Brief Papers

Presentation time: 10 minutes
Submission proposal length: 1 to 3 pages (625 - 1875 words)
AV equipment provided: laptop with Internet access, projector

These papers are brief, more condensed presentations or work-in-progress projects. Authors should use the preferred citation style (APA, MLA, Chicago, Turabian, etc.) of their discipline.

Full Papers

Presentation time: 20 minutes
Submission proposal length: 3 to 8 pages (1875 - 5000 words); an abstract is not sufficient to be evaluated as a full paper.
AV equipment provided: laptop with Internet access, projector

Full papers present reports of significant work in research, development, and applications related to all aspects of student achievement at IUP. Authors should use the preferred citation style (APA, MLA, Chicago, Turabian, etc.) of their discipline.

Workshops

Presentation time: 30 minutes (If you need more time, please justify the need in your proposal.)
Submission proposal length: 2 to 4 pages (1250 - 2500 words)
AV equipment provided: instructor PC and participant laptops with Internet access, projector

Workshops are intended to enhance the skills and broaden the perspectives of their attendees. They should be designed to introduce a framework for learning a new area or to provide advanced technical training in an area. Submissions will be selected on the basis of the instructor's qualifications for teaching the proposed workshop and his/her contribution to the professional development of trustees. Workshops should involve hands-on experience.

Note: Due to the extra expense required to provide workshop equipment, only workshops for which instructors provide their own participant equipment will be accepted. Please state in your proposal what equipment you will bring.

Workshop proposals must include:

Panels

Presentation time: 30 minutes
Submission proposal length: 4 to 6 pages (2500 - 3750 words)
AV equipment provided: laptop with Internet access, projector

Panel members (3 to 5 people, including the chair) present their views on a common theme, issue, or question and then discuss them with the audience. Panelists should take no more than 15 minutes of the half hour to make their case and then guide the audience through a discussion and series of questions and answers. Panel proposals should include:

Symposia

Presentation time: 30 minutes
Submission proposal length: 4 to 6 pages (2500 - 3750 words)
AV equipment provided: laptop with Internet access, projector

A symposium is a collection of full and/or brief papers on a theme that has been coordinated and led by the symposium's leader(s). The symposium leader should provide an abstract briefly describing the symposium and a submission file with the following sections:

After acceptance, the symposium coordinator will be asked to invite symposium authors to submit their papers to the PACT Conference Committee. Until then, authors should NOT submit their individual papers for the symposium. Authors should use the preferred citation style (APA, MLA, Chicago, Turabian, etc.) of their discipline.

Artistic Performances

Presentation time: 15 minutes
Submission proposal length: 1 to 2 pages (625 - 1250 words)
AV equipment provided: laptop with Internet access, projector

Artistic performances may include, but are not limited to, dance, instrumental, vocal, drama, and variety. Proposals should include:
