Integrating Electronic Library Resources
into WebCT Classes
Why Would I Want to include Library
Resources in my WebCT Course?
-
Students in
University classes are often required to do research projects which help them
to develop their personal knowledge base, as well as their critical thinking,
writing, and communication skills.
-
21st century college
students are apt to depend too heavily on Internet sources for their research when learning in an online environment.
-
Most library resources
are available electronically, can be easily accessed remotely, and are
some of the best informational resources available to researchers.
-
Course delivery
platforms like WebCT offer an environment in which library resources and
services can be integrated directly into the course content.
-
Integration of library
resources into their classes will help them access more relevant, scholarly
and substantive material.
-
Librarians can
collaborate with faculty using WebCT to develop unique course content using
the library's resources and the expertise of librarians in teaching
information literacy concepts.
How Do I Integrate
Library Resources and Services?
1. Include Links to
Services and Resources within course interface
(Consult with a
librarian to discuss the most
appropriate full-text
sources for your course. )
