      Congressional Documents

 

  • Serial Set, 1817-1915.   The House and Senate documents and the House and Senate reports which comprise most of the serial set contain some of the most significant documents relating to the development of this country.  They cover a wide variety of subjects--Indian affairs, national banks, land grants, annual reports of the executive departments, etc.  This collection supplements the later volumes of the serial set already in the Library in book form and provides an important source of materials for the study of American history.   Micro cards

          Online version of Serial Set (1833-1917, Selected Documents and Reports) is provided by Library

          of Congress.

          The Government Printing Office also provides online Serial Set starting from 104th Congress, 1995 to

          present.

  • Congressional Hearings, 1869-1956.   This printed record of more than 1,250,000 pages of testimony given before all existing congressional committees covers the 65 year span from the period of Reconstruction following the Civil War through and including the economic turmoil of the 1930s.  These hearings contain a complete transcript of testimony and represents one of the most useful and valuable collections of Federal Documents ever published.  No public testimony is withheld; no hearings are omitted from the collection.   • American Statistics Index (ASI).  A collection of all statistical publications of the U. S.
